Hysteroscopy Ankara

Hysteroscopy is one of the most commonly used closed surgery methods today, allowing the uterine wall and uterine disorders to be visualized and treated simultaneously with a special camera system.

Hysteroscopy

The uterus is entered vaginally with a device called a hysteroscope. Thanks to the high-resolution cameras at the end of this device, problems inside the uterus can be diagnosed. It is a method frequently used in the definitive diagnosis of uterine and fallopian tube disorders whose causes are difficult to detect, especially infertility. One of the biggest advantages of hysteroscopy is that treatment can also be performed during imaging. For information about hysteroscopy treatment and prices in Ankara, you can call our office and make an appointment with Op. Dr. Aslıhan Yazıcıoğlu.

What is Hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy is an imaging and treatment method performed from inside the uterus with a camera approximately 7-10 mm thick. Hysteroscopy can be performed in cases where a definitive diagnosis cannot be made with radiological examinations (such as a medicated uterine film called HSG). Treatment can be started as soon as the symptoms of the disorder are observed. Hysteroscopy can be performed under general anesthesia. This prevents the patient from feeling pain during the procedure. The recovery period is much shorter than open surgery. Since there are no large surgical incisions, there is less risk of infection.

Why Hysteroscopy is Performed
  • Diagnosis and treatment of infertility
  • Diagnosis and treatment of intrauterine and uterine structure problems
  • Uterine curtain, polyps, fibroids, uterine adhesions
  • Fibroids and uterine fibroids
  • Closure of the tubes - or conversely - removal of blockages
  • Diagnosis and treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding
Is Infertility Treatment Possible with Hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy is not directly used in the treatment of infertility, but it is a method used to reveal and treat the causes of infertility. Intrauterine polyps, curtains and adhesions that cause infertility can be treated with hysteroscopy.

How Hysteroscopy Surgery is Performed

General anesthesia is preferred so that the patient does not feel pain during the hysteroscopy procedure, the imaging is of high quality and there is no loss of time if treatment is to be performed at the same time. After anesthesia is administered, a very small hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and inserted into the cervix. It is advanced along the uterine canal and finally enters the uterus. The area to be operated on is inflated with special fluids for hysteroscope surgery. Afterwards, the hysteroscope image is transferred to the monitor and the uterus is checked for curtains, adhesions, polyps or fibroids. The operation is completed after appropriate treatment. Afterwards, the patient can go home on the same day.

How Hysteroscopy Surgery is Performed

Hysteroscopy can be performed without anesthesia or under local anesthesia. If not only imaging but also treatment is to be performed, general anesthesia is preferred. After anesthesia is administered, a micro-sized hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and into the cervix. The patient can go home on the same day.

The Recovery Process After Hysteroscopy

After a short rest, patients are discharged. Hysteroscopy does not require hospitalization. Mild pain may be felt after the procedure. Simple painkillers and, if necessary, antibiotics are prescribed by the doctor. Hysteroscopy is one of the most effective and reliable solutions for intrauterine diseases. Hysteroscopy is one of the most commonly used methods, especially for the removal of harmless masses such as fibroids and polyps.
Hysteroscopy is a surgery with almost no side effects. However, as with any surgery, there are rare risks associated with hysteroscopy. Injury to the cervix during imaging, bleeding, infection and problems caused by anesthesia are among the rare risks of hysteroscopy. Of course, these risks are extremely low in safe hands.
